IGP Camargue rice

The Camargue is a large rice producing region of different families: long A, round, medium, long B rice and offered in different forms or processing stage: brown, white, parboiled ..., and different varieties: white, whole , steamed, perfumed, colored and following different methods: conventional or organic.

All varieties of rice, whatever their color, can be offered as white rice because white rice is obtained by abrasion of the husk of the rice.

Brown, white, parboiled rice: what to choose? The treatments that rice grains have undergone influence their nutritional value.

Colored rices, with only the inedible shell removed, are more nutritious than white rices as a whole because they contain more fiber.

Brown rice is a good source of magnesium and dietary fiber, and an excellent source of selenium and manganese.

Thanks to its starch content, brown rice, in a balanced meal, is an excellent "fuel" for active people. The husk of brown rice contains many beneficial active ingredients.

Red and black rice are the richest in bioflavonoids that protect your health. Brown rice, red rice, black rice from the Camargue: a production process that respects the “health value” of rice. Only the outer shell, or "flakes," of each grain of rice is removed to produce brown rice.

In contrast, to obtain white rice, the manufacturing process involves removing bran, the most nutrient-rich part of the grain.

Camargue rice is presented under different degrees of refinement, whole brown rice is the best choice for health. On the other hand, white rice has a high glycemic index, which means that the sugar in the starch in rice is quickly found in the blood. It is for this reason that modern white rice that is extremely refined increases the risk of diabetes.

Brown rice bran contains the highest level of vitamin E, but also antioxidants and gamma – oryzanol, which are exceptional natural antioxidants. Numerous studies have shown that these antioxidants can lower bad cholesterol (LDL) levels in the blood and therefore can help prevent heart disease.
